While the position of Project Officer (Energy) resides with the Energy Sector Division (SD1-ENE) within the Sectors Department 1 (SD1), you will be strategically assigned to the South Pacific Subregional Office (SPSO) within the Pacific Department (PARD) based at our Subregional Office in Suva, Fiji.
You will report to the Director, SD1-ENE or designated Technical International Staff and have matrix reporting line to the designated Technical International Staff, PARD/SPSO.
As a Project Officer (Energy), you will contribute to the energy sector operations with primary focus on countries under the responsibility of the Pacific Subregional Office (SPSO), but also in other countries. You will do this by supporting and leading loan/Technical Assistance (TA) processing and administration, portfolio management, sector work, and other general sector activities. You will focus on energy and related sectors, including public and private sector operations. Undertake assigned responsibilities using substantial and diverse experience, undertake a variety of assignments, and deliver knowledge product and general work. Contribute independently to SD1-ENE and SPSO by covering all or a combination of the following tasks in energy and related sectors. Contribute to the processing and administration of assigned loans and TAs under the guidance of the Regional Director/Sector Director and international sector specialists in SPSO.

This position is crucial to the Workforce Rebalancing Framework (2022-2027), a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing ADB's in-house expertise previously sourced from the external workforce. The role seeks seasoned experts with substantial field experience capable of leading policy dialogue, and projects focused on delivering knowledge solutions. Successful applicants may occasionally undertake short-term assignments in other departments or offices, when required.
This vacancy is a regional staff position with local remuneration package. It is open to nationals and permanent residents residing in the duty station, Fiji Islands, and ADB member countries in the Pacific region such as Australia, Cook Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, New Zealand, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
This is a fixed term appointment with option to renew, initially for a period of up to 3 years, or up to the Normal Retirement Date (NRD), whichever comes earlier, for the purpose(s) and conditions determined by ADB, in accordance with Administrative Order No. 2.01 (Recruitment and Appointment). After the initial fixed-term period, ADB may choose to renew the appointment for up to an additional 3 years or not renewed. This decision will be made in the overall interest of ADB, based on factors including but not limited to the requirement of Staff's particular blend of skills and experience for the medium-term work program of the organizational unit, sufficient funding to cover the renewed period, and Staff's performance and suitability for employment. There is no limit to the number of renewals up to NRD. However, this appointment is not convertible to a regular appointment.
