Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

Goolma Ltd which operates Paradise Cove Resort, Blue Lagoon Beach Resort & Octopus Resort is seeking applications from a range of qualified and experienced professional candidates  to lead our pastry and bakery operations at Octopus Resort.

Position: Pastry Chef - Island Based

Location: Octopus Resort, a popular resort located in the stunning Likuliku Bay on Waya Island in Fiji's breathtaking Yasawa Islands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily production of a wide range of pastries, breads, cakes, plated desserts, and special event items
  • Develop and execute creative dessert menus, seasonal specials, and visually stunning presentations that complement our resort's dining style
  • Maintain the highest standards of food quality, consistency, hygiene, and food safety
  • Manage pastry station inventory, ingredient ordering, portion control, and waste minimization
  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Chef, Sous Chefs, and kitchen team to innovate offerings and ensure seamless service
  • Train, mentor, and supervise junior kitchen staff in pastry techniques and best practices

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Pastry Chef (minimum 3–5 years preferred), ideally in a resort, hotel, or high-volume hospitality environment
  • Strong expertise in modern pastry techniques, baking, decorating, and plating
  • Creative flair with excellent attention to detail and a passion for presentation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen while maintaining composure under pressure
  • Good communication skills, positive attitude, and strong teamwork ethic
  • Willingness to embrace remote island life
  • Relevant culinary/pastry qualifications or certifications are advantageous
  • Physically and medically healthy
