Castaway Island, Fiji managed by Outrigger Hospitality Group is an award winning, iconic four-star resort in the Mamanuca group of islands. Castaway Island is 30km from Nadi in the Mamanuca group and easily accessible by helicopter, seaplane and fast catamaran. We are seeking an enthusiastic and professional local Chinese Translator to join our team on a temporary basis.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Chinese speaking guests by translating written and spoken communication with staff and management.
- Help Chinese guests navigate the resort’s amenities, activities and island attractions offering recommendations in their native language.
- Translate important resort materials, menus and signs to ensure clear communication with Chinese guests.
- Prompt feedback to our Chinese guests queries in a timely, professional and efficient manner
- Ensure a smooth check in/out process with excellent and efficient service experience
- Ensure that any relevant information is relayed to the Front Office Manager or other departments
- High customer service skills
- Be knowledgeable on features of our hotel rooms, room rates, packages, promotions and other general product knowledge necessary to perform daily duties
- On handling foreign currencies, credit cards and cash to ensure correct procedures is used according to the hotel credit policy.
- Act in accordance with policies and procedures when working with front of house equipment and property management systems
COMPETENCY SKILLS
- Fluency in English and Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) both written and spoken fluency is essential.
- Previous experience in the hospitality industry is a plus, but not mandatory. Customer service skills are key.
- Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
- Competent level of IT proficiency
- Excellent communications skills and well presented.
