
Aircraft Planning Engineer - Forward Planning
The purpose of the Aircraft Planning Engineer - Forward Planning role is to ensure the timely completion of all maintenance activities in accordance with the Aircraft Maintenance Schedule and System. The role is responsible for planning aircraft maintenance and utilisation in a cost-effective and efficient manner, while ensuring all required resources are available to enable the successful accomplishment of scheduled maintenance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review aircraft maintenance due tasks, plan maintenance activities, and produce work packages to ensure all tasks are completed by their respective due dates.
- Prepare aircraft allocation and maintenance plans to ensure sufficient ground time is available, while maintaining task and check intervals in a cost-effective and timely manner.
- Review total maintenance checks, analyse required resources, ground time, parts, and tooling, and liaise with Production Planning, Maintenance, Materials, and Workshops.
- Coordinate aircraft modifications and work closely with Technical Services and Technical Materials to ensure timely and cost-efficient incorporation.
- Conduct research by investigating maintenance issues and discrepancies to propose solutions, and by gathering data to prepare maintenance reports as requested by management.
- Ensure efficient utilisation of rotable equipment by developing and implementing stagger programs based on monthly reports issued by the Materials Department.
- Review completed work packages for accuracy and completeness prior to submission to the Records Office.
- Accurately acquit tasks and work packages in AMOS to ensure compliance and maintain accurate maintenance history.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of heavy maintenance check packages, as directed by the Manager Engineering Planning (MEP).
- Coordinate heavy maintenance projects to the level directed by the MEP.
- Act as the on-site representative at MRO facilities during heavy maintenance checks, monitoring work progress to ensure adherence to the critical path, following up on material shortages and open technical queries, and ensuring completion within approved timeframes and budget.
- Act as a back-up to other Aircraft Planning Engineers and the Manager Engineering Planning during periods of absence or as required.
- Provide support during Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations when required.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Manager Engineering Planning.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Degree in an Engineering discipline or Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.
- At least 2-3 years' experience in an engineering/maintenance environment.
- Knowledge of commercial aircraft systems; as well as a comprehensive understanding of the Engineering & Maintenance requirements of aircraft.
- Project management knowledge and experience.
- Experience in using computer based maintenance control programs.
