Mechanic

Yasawa Island Resort & Spa is seeking a skilled and reliable Mechanic to join our engineering team at our remote luxury resort.

This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who thrives in an island environment and has strong experience with marine vessels and generators, alongside general mechanical maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintenance, servicing, and repair of:

  • Marine engines (boats, tenders, outboards)

  • Diesel generators and power systems

  • Resort vehicles and plant equipment

• Preventative maintenance scheduling and fault diagnosis

• Emergency repairs to minimise operational downtime

• Maintaining accurate maintenance and service records

• Working closely with the Chief Engineer to ensure smooth resort operations

• Ensuring all work is carried out safely and to a high standard

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience as a mechanic (marine and/or heavy diesel preferred)

• Strong knowledge of generators and diesel engines

• Marine experience highly regarded

• Ability to work independently in a remote location

• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills

• Good organisational and time-management skills

Desirable Attributes:

• Previous experience working in a resort, island, or remote environment

• Trade qualification in mechanical engineering or similar

• Positive attitude, flexibility, and team-focused mindset
