Senior Manager Operational Integrity
Reporting to the Executive Manager Flight Operations the Senior Manager Operational Integrity (SM Ops) role oversees end-to-end operational support from planning through to execution, ensuring schedule feasibility, effective day-of-operations control, regulatory compliance, optimal resource utilization and timely recovery during irregular operations. The position is critical in directing all OCC functions for both Fiji Airways and Fiji Link, maintaining punctuality, roster stability, and safeguarding customers, staff, and assets.
- Manages Operations Planning, Operations Control and Recovery, Flight Planning, Aircraft Performance and Load Control, Crew Planning, Rostering and Tracking, Flight Following, and Ground Operations Liaison teams.
- Directly supervises all flights within the Operational Window, with particular focus on the three days preceding and the two days following each day of operation.
- Ensures flights are planned and dispatched in compliance with regulatory and company requirements, while identifying opportunities for operational and resource efficiencies.
- Continuously performs pre-operations validation and checks, with emphasis on the two days following the current operation day, identifies resource constraints, and initiates corrective action to protect schedule integrity and maintain punctuality.
- Plans and ensures the most effective, economical, and productive use of Technical and Cabin Crew and other operational resources, while maintaining regulatory compliance, contractual obligations, and roster stability.
- Drives punctuality by actively managing day-to-day OTP for Fiji Airways and Fiji Link through thorough data analysis, identification of trends, root cause analysis, and corrective action to prevent recurrence.
- Ensures Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are fit for purpose, documented, trained, deployed, embedded in daily practice, monitored for compliance, maintained, and updated according to industry best practice.
- Maintains a focus on fuel usage and efficiency, coordinating between flight planners, load controllers, and aircraft performance engineers to optimize routings, flight plans, and aircraft loadings, while leveraging operational data for planning.
- Chairs weekly OTSM meetings with senior management of stakeholder departments to ensure accountability, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and enhancement of OTP trends.
- Holds operational stakeholders accountable for rectifying delay causes within their areas through direct engagement and daily operational meetings.
- Provides operational feedback to Network Planning and Customer Experience departments to support efficient planning and scheduling.
- Manages flight delay and disruption recovery in coordination with Flight Operations, Cabin Services, Ground Operations, and other stakeholders.
- Formulates strategies and action plans for return-to-schedule during delays, disruptions, and off-schedule operations in a customer-focused and cost-effective manner.
- Maintains strong rapport with Pilots, Cabin Crew, and other industrial and service groups, and proposes strategies to achieve company productivity objectives.
- Manages cost center allocation, prepares annual departmental budgets, and monitors cost center performance.
- Reviews hotels at overnight ports and manages contracts with hotels and transport providers.
- Champions process improvements and system enhancements, acting as a subject matter expert to optimize departmental systems and data usage.
- Manages personnel reporting to the position, providing guidance, training, and development to ensure efficient performance according to company standards and documented procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in an aviation-related field or equivalent industry experience.
- Postgraduate qualification in scarce resource management or ATPL subject passes is an advantage.
- Relevant IATA certifications preferred.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in an Operations Control environment in the airline industry.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for flight operations, load control, crew rostering, training, and tracking.
- Commercially aware, with proven understanding of contracts and airline operational costs.
- Comprehensive understanding of operational processes and systems, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Strong staff management skills.
- Ability to manage multi-level problems simultaneously and reach timely, effective solutions with minimal disruption to stakeholders.
