The Principal Climate Change Officer - Policy (PCCO-P) will assist in developing, analysing, and monitoring climate and ocean policies to ensure the Ministry's frameworks meet the specific process requirements of the Act, effectively bridging the gap between legal provisions and practical implementation.
Key Responsibilities
The position will achieve its purpose through the following key duties:
1. Provide evidence-based policy guidance and advice on all climate change related provisions under all parts of the Act.
2. Develop recommendations and evaluate policy efficiency to improve existing and create new climate policies for the Ministry.
3. Compile relevant reports with recommendations to senior management of the Ministry within agreed timelines.
4. Coordinate and collaborate with government agencies, communities, general public and non-governmental agencies in relation to climate policy and research matters of the Ministry.
