AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY TO LEAD, DEVELOP & GROW

Your Expertise. Our Expansion. A Safer Fiji.

An established international fire protection company is expanding its operations into Fiji and establishing a brand-new branch office in Nadi.

We are seeking an experienced, commercially minded and results-driven Senior Fire & Life Safety Systems Engineer to play a pivotal role in developing our business and leading our technical operations in Fiji.

This is not simply an engineering or maintenance position. It is a unique opportunity for an ambitious professional to combine technical expertise, business development, client relationship management and operational leadership.

The successful candidate will work closely with our international management team to establish a strong local presence, secure new business, develop long-term service contracts and deliver high-quality fire protection solutions across Fiji.

As our operations expand, the role offers genuine opportunities to progress into Branch Management, Technical Management or Country Operations Leadership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Business Development & Market Expansion

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across Fiji’s commercial, industrial, hospitality and construction sectors.
  • Establish relationships with property developers, hotels, resorts, commercial property owners, contractors and government organisations.
  • Promote the company’s fire detection, alarm, suppression and maintenance services.
  • Prepare technical proposals, quotations, tenders and service agreements.
  • Identify potential clients requiring new installations, system upgrades and ongoing maintenance services.
  • Develop strategies to grow market share, revenue and long-term customer relationships.
  • Represent the company professionally at client meetings, site inspections and industry engagements.

2. Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) & Client Management

  • Develop, negotiate and secure Annual Maintenance Contracts for fire protection systems.
  • Establish and manage a portfolio of commercial and industrial maintenance clients.
  • Plan and coordinate preventive maintenance programmes, inspections and servicing schedules.
  • Monitor service delivery, contract performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities for contract renewals, additional services and system upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports and customer documentation.

3. Technical Engineering & Project Delivery

  • Provide technical leadership in the design, installation, testing and commissioning of fire detection, alarm and suppression systems.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications and technical submissions.
  • Oversee installation activities and ensure projects meet agreed quality, safety and performance requirements.
  • Conduct technical inspections, system diagnostics, fault identification and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, suppliers and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Provide technical solutions and recommendations for system improvements and upgrades.

4. Regulatory Compliance & International Standards

  • Ensure fire protection installations and maintenance activities comply with applicable Fiji National Building Code requirements.
  • Apply relevant Australian Standards, including AS 1670 and AS 2118, where applicable to the project and system.
  • Maintain technical documentation, inspection reports and compliance records.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, consultants and other stakeholders on fire safety requirements.
  • Promote high standards of workplace health and safety, technical quality and professional conduct.

5. Branch Establishment & Operational Leadership

  • Assist international management in establishing and developing the new Nadi branch.
  • Support the development of local suppliers, contractors and service networks.
  • Establish efficient technical service procedures, maintenance schedules and reporting systems.
  • Assist with planning, budgeting, resource allocation and operational performance monitoring.
  • Support the recruitment, training and supervision of local technicians as operations expand.
  • Provide technical mentorship and promote continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the company’s long-term strategic growth throughout Fiji.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

We are seeking a candidate with a strong combination of technical competence, commercial awareness and leadership potential.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Fire Safety Engineering or a related discipline. Equivalent trade qualifications supported by substantial relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ relevant experience in fire protection engineering, system installation, maintenance, testing or commissioning.
  • Strong technical knowledge of fire detection, alarm and suppression systems.
  • Working knowledge of applicable Australian Fire Standards and Fiji building regulations.
  • Proven ability to diagnose technical faults, resolve operational problems and deliver practical engineering solutions.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and take ownership of outcomes.
  • Good computer literacy and experience preparing technical documentation, reports and quotations.
  • Valid Fiji driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
  • Must be a Fiji citizen or permanent resident.

Highly Desirable

  • Previous experience in business development, technical sales or account management within the fire protection, electrical or building services industries.
  • Experience securing and managing Annual Maintenance Contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare tenders, technical quotations and commercial proposals.
  • Experience supervising technicians, contractors or project teams.
  • Established professional relationships within Fiji’s construction, hospitality, commercial property or industrial sectors.
  • Experience supporting the establishment or expansion of business operations.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are particularly interested in professionals who can think beyond the technical aspects of engineering.

You will be someone who:

  • Combines engineering expertise with a commercial and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Enjoys developing new business opportunities and building customer relationships.
  • Demonstrates initiative, accountability and sound decision-making.
  • Can confidently engage with clients, consultants, contractors and regulatory authorities.
  • Is comfortable working independently in a developing branch operation.
  • Has the ambition and leadership potential to take on greater management responsibilities as the business expands.

We are looking for someone who can help build the business, not simply maintain its systems.
