About Us:
Viti Foods Pte Limited is a subsidiary of CJ Patel Group of Companies and we specialize in manufacturing canned tuna and mackerel products for local and export markets. We are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced Machine Operator to be based in Laucala Beach Estate, Suva.
MACHINE OPERATOR - RETORT
Role Description:
- Operate and monitor retort processing equipment used in the thermal sterilization of canned fish products.
- Ensure processing cycles are completed according to approved temperature, pressure, and time requirements.
- Conduct pre-start checks, including verification of product batches, processing schedules, and equipment readiness.
- Accurately record production data, processing parameters, and operational logs.
- Monitor equipment performance and report faults, deviations, or safety concerns promptly.
- Support food safety, quality assurance, hygiene, and HACCP compliance requirements.
- Assist with loading and unloading products, retort baskets, and plate freezers as required.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Technical/Trade or vocational qualification in mechanical or plant engineering, manufacturing, food processing, or a related field will be an advantage.
- Previous experience operating retort machines or similar industrial processing equipment.
- Experience in fish canning, food processing or manufacturing will be highly regarded.
- Basic understanding of temperature, pressure, processing time and food safety controls.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and food safety practices, or willingness to undertake training.
- Ability to work shifts, including weekends and overtime, as required.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a production team.
