As an Accountant – Commercial & Financial Operations at Colgate Palmolive Fiji, you will play a dual role that blends traditional financial controllership with strategic commercial business partnering. You will ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial records while providing actionable insights that support business growth across the Pacific Islands.

Key Responsibilities
Commercial Business Partnering
• Margin & Profitability Analysis: Review overall business margins and product profitability to identify areas for revenue enhancement or cost reduction.
• Pricing & Trade Spend Management: Analyze and process customer discounts. Collaborate closely with the Customer Development Team (CDT) to review trade spend and ensure optimal resource allocation.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Actively participate in the preparation of annual budgets and Latest Estimates. Maintain financial data within budgeting tools and conduct detailed variance analysis.
• Accounts Receivable & Credit Control: Monitor debtor ageing reports to ensure timely collections and maintain healthy cash flow. Perform comprehensive credit checks and validate credit management processes.
• Duty Drawback Coordination: Compile necessary documentation for export duty drawbacks and liaise with relevant customs authorities to ensure timely processing.
Core Financial Operations
• Month-End Close & General Ledger: Execute monthly closing processes in the ERP system (SAP), including the preparation and posting of journal entries such as accruals and prepayments.
• Account Reconciliations: Perform regular and accurate balance sheet account reconciliations, promptly investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
• Accounts Payable Management: Oversee the invoice processing workflow, verifying and coding invoices accurately. Prepare and execute vendor payments in compliance with company terms and policies.
• Compliance & Audit Support: Ensure all financial activities strictly adhere to Colgate’s Global Financial Policies, US GAAP, and SOX control requirements. Act as a key contact and provide support to internal and external auditors during reviews.
• Inventory & Fixed Assets: Collaborate with the Supply Chain team on inventory reviews, assist with fixed asset monitoring, and perform intercompany reconciliations.
• Master Data Management: Manage the setup and modification of both Customer and Vendor Master Data, coordinating effectively with regional hubs.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field. Progress towards a professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, CA) is highly regarded.
• Experience: A solid foundation in accounting principles with demonstrated experience in general ledger management, month-end close processes, and financial analysis. Experience in a blended commercial and core accounting role is a plus.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP S/4HANA experience is a strong advantage) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable commercial insights to cross-functional teams.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to partner e ectively with non-finance departments, such as Commercial (CDT) and Supply Chain.
