Kokomo Private Island is looking for a Class 5 Marine Captain to join our marine team. We’re looking for someone with the skills, attitude and initiative to lead safe, professional trips that give our guests the wow factor.
Our fleet includes cruising catamarans, offshore game fishing vessels, dive vessels and inshore craft. As captain, you will be responsible for the safety and operation of the vessels in your charge, their upkeep and presentation, and the training of your crew.
You’ll take pride in your work, communicate clearly with the team and enjoy engaging with guests on the water around Kadavu. We’re looking for a capable, well-rounded captain with strong English communication skills, experience delivering high-end guest experiences, confidence operating game fishing vessels and catamarans, and sound fishing knowledge.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and navigate vessels safely in accordance with maritime regulations.
- Lead and assist guests during game fishing excursions, ensuring a memorable and enjoyable experience.
- Provide excellent customer service and engage with guests in a friendly, professional manner.
- Maintain the vessel and equipment to the highest standards of safety and cleanliness.
- Collaborate with the activities team to enhance guest experiences and promote island activities.
Qualifications:
- A valid Class 5 master qualification
- A valid certificate of Medical Fitness for service in the deck department
- Valid eyesight and colour test certificate/report
- Valid Advanced Safety Certificate covering;
- Proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats – STCW Section A-VI/2-1
- Medical First Aid at Sea – STCW Section A-VI/4-1
- Advanced Firefighting – STCW Section A-VI/3
- Personal safety and social responsibilities– STCW Section A-VI/1-4
- GMDSS restricted operators’ certificate
- Valid seafarers’ employment record book (S.E.R.B)
- Strong guest service and relationship management experience
- Professional presentation with a positive, team-oriented attitude
- A latest Police Clearance Report
