Finance Analyst

Purpose of the Role: 

The Finance Analyst is responsible for supporting the organization’s financial health through effective financial planning, analysis, and performance monitoring of Strategic Business Units (SBUs). The role provides financial insights through monthly performance analysis, variance reporting, and budget forecasting to support informed business decisions. It plays a key role in ensuring robust investment oversight, cost management, and financial compliance aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives.

Key accountabilities:

SBU Performance monitoring

• Monitor and analyse monthly SBU financial and operational performance.
• Prepare monthly management reports, including variance analysis against budget and forecast.
• Analyse SBU performance with ratio, profitability analysis, trend analysis, key drivers’ analysis, and identify risk areas impacting SBU performance.
• Collaborate with business units to understand performance drivers and recommend improvements.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

• Support the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans aligned with organisational strategy.
• Conduct variance analysis between actual results and budgets/forecasts, identifying key drivers and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain financial models to support scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, and strategic decision-making.
• Evaluate OPEX and CAPEX proposals through cost-benefit analysis and investment appraisal in accordance with AFL finance policy.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Financial Analysis

• Conduct cost-benefit analysis and business case to support the business decisions and investment proposals.
• Contribute to pricing models or regulatory cost input when required.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure financial activities comply with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate financial records and paper trail
• Support risk mitigation through financial controls, contingency planning, and compliance monitoring.

Reporting & Stakeholders Engagement

• Prepare financial reports for senior management, including budget performance, investment status, and SBU financial analysis.
• Present SBU performance insights to the Financial Controller and management team.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to support data integrity and enhance reporting processes.

Qualifications, Professional Knowledge and Experience: 

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
• 5–7 years’ experience in financial analysis, budgeting, planning, or related roles.
• Strong financial modelling and analytical skills.
• Experience with budget preparation, variance analysis, financial modelling, and performance reporting.
• Proficiency with Excel and financial systems.
