Landscaper

Purpose of the Role:

The purpose of the Landscaper role is to ensure the aesthetic appeal and health of outdoor and indoor plant displays at the airport and associated areas by cultivating, maintaining, and managing gardens and landscaping elements. The role involves the proper care of plants, the use of gardening tools and equipment, and ensuring that the landscape meets both functional and aesthetic standards.

Key accountabilities:

• Ensure to cultivate pot plants, shrubs and flowering plants in Garden Nursery for supply as and when required.
• To cultivate and look after ornamental plants and install floral displays in indoor or outdoor settings.
• To ensure proper use of gardening tools such as spades, trowels, sprayers, sprinklers, cultivators to condition and prepare grounds and plants, seeds, seedlings, or bulbs for growing in greenhouse or outdoor growing area.
• Water garden beds and apply liquid and dry nutrients/manure to lawns and trees as necessary and weed, transplant or thin plants to allow for uniform growth of plants, lawns and shrubs.
• To transplant plants from growing area to display beds, or place potted plants in beds according to work plans.
• Mow lawns and prune trees using manual or mechanized mowers/pruning equipment.
• Clean grounds, using rakes and blower
• Proper use of the sprinkler system to water gardens.
• To attend to display beds to maintain proper growth of plants and beauty of display
• To ensure repair of gardening hand tools and equipment.
• To prune treetops, use saws or pruning shears and perform other gardening duties to maintain grounds and clear right-of-way for communication lines and electric power lines to minimize storm and short-circuit hazards.
• To use pruners/power pruners to gain access to work area as directed by Team Leader Landscaping.
• To mow lawns by using brush cutter to maintain grass level and respond effectively to all requirements of mower operator or other works considered being within the scope of Mower operator and gardener.
• To carry out any other duties within the scope of the position or related assigned by the immediate supervisor/s or the department Manager/General Manager from time to time.

Qualifications, Professional Knowledge and Experience:

• At least form 6/7 level of education
• Have Minimum of 5 years similar work experience in a reputable company
• Be Physically and Medically fit
• Have knowledge of Chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
• Have knowledge of Machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Good command of English language (written and spoken)
• Some computer knowledge will be an advantage
• Have good communication and interpersonal and customer service skills
• Must be a mature person who is very reliable, trustworthy, and honest with high level of integrity
• Must have a Clean Police Record
• Have powers of observation and concentration, sufficient to carry out the landscaping duties effectively
• Holds a clean & valid driving license.
