Airport Nurse/ Guest Relations Officer

Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

Purpose of the Role:

The Airport Nurse/Guest Relations Officer is responsible for providing immediate medical assistance in emergencies, ensuring the health and well-being of staff and passengers, and promoting health awareness. Additionally, the role involves enhancing passenger experience by offering guidance, managing flight information, and addressing service issues within the airport terminal.

Key accountabilities:

Nurse:

  • First responder/first aider in cases of medical emergencies at Nadi Airport. Stabilizing and accompanying patients to hospital in Company’s ambulance (or as necessary), facilitating treatment and/or admitting patient in hospital and reporting back on status and progress.
  • Conducting health and medical awareness amongst employees and stakeholders.
  • Conducting First Aid refresher training at regular intervals.
  • Creating awareness and help in first line of defense in cases of global outbreaks of diseases plus other medical and health related issues.
  • Consultation with Fiji Airport Company Doctors whenever warranted.
  • Recording and maintaining health profiles of all Fiji Airport employees.
  • To respond to emergency cases in a timely manner.
  • Ensure adequate supplies are in stock and replenished in a timely manner.
  • To spearhead the internal awareness and create programs of wellness and fight against NCD.
  • Carry out regular ambulance and emergency bags checks in ensuring adequate supplies are readily available.
  • Carry out regular checks on AEDs at all locations and emergency line.
  • Carry out regular checks of medical record book and ensure accurate record keeping of emergencies/cases attended to.
  • Compile and submit monthly report/records of medical cases/emergencies attended to.
  • Carry out stock take of supplies and equipment checks in the isolation room and liaise with MOH doctor.

Guest Relations Officer:

  • To direct tourists to taxi rank if there is no transfer booking and to provide direction and information pertaining to flights, departure and arrival gates, amenities available.
  • To update the (Flight Information Display System) FIDS to ensure accurate flight numbers, arrival and departure times are shown on the public display screens.
  • To record and channel complaints directed to the Manager Airport Landside & Customer Services and take prompt actions to minimize any inconvenience to the travelling public.
  • To assist Airport Cleaners in maintaining a clean and tidy environment and report any faults related to the terminal building, its faculties to the relevant Supervisor or standby staff as appropriate.
  • To compile and submit quarterly research reports on passenger movement and passengers needs every month. To check that all toilets and public facilities are always in ideal condition.
  • Carry out Terminal, Operation and Cargo building inspection as per the Airport Management Quality analysis inspection list and ensure reporting of any defects that is not in par with the FA standards.
  • Liaise with Security and Border Police on instant breaches conducted at the Arrivals concourse, file report and forward to MALOCS.

  • Ensure that all meet and greets adhere to the FA standards of uniformity as per the SOP before every flight and are positioned at their designated areas on a first come first serve basis.
  • Facilitate and co-ordinate reservations and bookings for VIP facilitations, school visits and other similar events.

Qualifications, Professional Knowledge and Experience:

  • A registered Nurse with appropriate tertiary level qualifications with associated Government or Private work experience of at least 3 years
  • Experienced in handling Accident & Emergencies including Trauma, CPR etc
  • An effective communicator with excellent Customer Service skills and aptitude
  • Energetic and self-motivated with a high level of integrity, self-discipline, commitment, energy and passion for what you do.

  • Able to work autonomously and within a team environment, excellent interpersonal skills, self motivated, and evidence of delivering work/projects within tight deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks daily and to work under pressure to meet deadlines, effective time management skills, and willingness to work after hours.
  • Outstanding ability to work cross-functionally with a can-do, flexible and mature attitude.
  • Strong team player that is results oriented, enthusiastic about technology, and ability to successfully adapt to change.
