We’re looking for an experienced and highly capable Safety & Security Manager to lead the safety, security, and risk management function across Holiday Inn & Suites Port Moresby and Holiday Inn Express Port Moresby.

Reporting to the Portfolio General Manager, this senior leadership role is responsible for creating a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for our guests, colleagues, visitors, and hotel assets. You’ll provide strategic and operational leadership across both properties, ensuring effective security controls, emergency preparedness, risk management, and compliance.

A little taste of your day to day

• Lead the overall safety and security function across both hotels, providing clear direction, standards, and accountability.
• Develop, implement, and regularly review security policies, procedures, risk assessments, and emergency response plans.
• Maintain a visible leadership presence and ensure security operations are effective, professional, and responsive at all times.
• Identify and assess safety and security risks, taking proactive steps to reduce exposure and protect guests, colleagues, property, and business operations.
• Lead the response to security incidents, emergencies, investigations, and crisis situations, ensuring appropriate escalation, documentation, and follow-up.
• Oversee access control, CCTV, patrols, key management, incident reporting, and other security systems and processes.
• Build strong working relationships with local police, emergency services, government authorities, security providers, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure both properties meet applicable legal, regulatory, brand, and company safety and security requirements.
• Provide regular security updates, risk assessments, incident analysis, and recommendations to the Portfolio General Manager and hotel leadership teams.
• Recruit, train, coach, and develop the security team, building a strong culture of professionalism, vigilance, accountability, and guest service.
• Coordinate safety and security training, emergency drills, and awareness programmes for hotel colleagues.
• Work closely with hotel leadership and operational teams to ensure safety and security considerations are embedded in day-to-day operations.
• Manage security-related budgets, contracts, resources, and external service providers effectively.
• Prepare detailed reports on incidents, risks, and security performance metrics
• Support VIP visits, special events, and high-profile guest security requirements when needed

What we need from you

• Significant experience in a senior safety, security, risk, law enforcement, defence, or related leadership role.
• Previous experience within hotels, hospitality, corporate security, or a similarly complex operating environment.
• Strong knowledge of security risk management, emergency preparedness, incident management, investigations, and workplace safety.
• Proven experience leading and developing security teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leaders, colleagues, authorities, and external partners.
• The ability to remain calm, decisive, and professional during emergencies and sensitive situations.
• Strong written reporting, investigation, and analytical skills.
• Relevant safety, security, risk management, or related qualifications will be highly regarded.
• Knowledge of the Port Moresby operating environment and established local stakeholder networks would be an advantage.
• Flexibility – due to the nature of our operations, you would be required to work nights, weekends and public holidays.
