Inventory Officer

Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

Purpose of the Role: 

The Inventory Officer supports the Inventory Coordinator by managing inventory levels, overseeing the fuel depot operations, and facilitating timely delivery of goods. He / She will ensure cleanliness and organization of the stores yard, maintain safety and regulatory compliance, and assist with record-keeping, reporting, and daily tasks for the Inventory Coordinator and Finance Officer - Stores.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Inventory Management - Track and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock and accuracy of records, including assisting with stock counts and replenishment.
  • Fuel Depot Oversight - Oversee the operation of the fuel depot, including handling fuel transactions, maintaining accurate fuel records, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Goods Delivery - Facilitate the timely delivery of goods to various departments, ensuring proper documentation and efficient distribution.
  • Stores Yard Maintenance: Maintain the organization, cleanliness, and safety of the stores yard, adhering to regulatory standards and company policies.
  • Support and Reporting - Assist the Inventory Coordinator and Finance Officer - Stores with daily tasks, including record-keeping, reporting, and addressing operational issues.

 

 

Qualifications, Professional Knowledge and Experience:

  • Certificate/Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Inventory Management, Logistics, Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, with a minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience in procurement support, inventory management, logistics, finance support or a related field; OR
  • 7/Year 13 qualification with a minimum of four (3-5) years’ relevant experience in procurement support, inventory management, logistics, warehouse operations or a related field.

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to efficiently manage inventory, maintain order in the stores yard, and handle documentation.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in tracking inventory, preparing reports, and ensuring accurate deliveries.
  • Communication Skills: Effective coordination with team members, departments, and suppliers for smooth operations.
  • Problem-Solving: Capability to address and resolve issues related to inventory discrepancies, delivery problems, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Understanding and adherence to safety regulations, operational procedures, and company policies.
