ELECTRICIAN

SSCG operates a modern fleet of fast catamarans, an overnight cruise ship, a modern sailing catamaran, an array of smaller vessels. SSCG also operates Fiji’s two most popular day trip islands.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair and testing of electrical systems on company vessels and island operations including diesel powered generating sets and solar installations.  The role ensures that all electrical equipment operates safely, efficiently and in compliance with the maritime regulations, supporting the reliability and availability of the fleet.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Installing conduit, wiring, circuit breakers, transformers, lighting fixtures and electrical Fittings and outlets across DC and AC systems
• Troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing electrical malfunctions.
• Ensuring all work strictly adheres to local and national electrical codes
• Using testing devices to ensure proper operation of system and fault tracing
• Coordinating with supervisors, contractors, engineers on updates and assessments

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering with sufficient proven experience and practical
• Deep understanding of electrical theory, circuits, voltage systems and safety proc
• Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders and lift heavy equipment
• Skilled using hand and power tools such as conduit benders, wire strippers, drills etc
• Strong skills to diagnose and repair complex electrical issues
• May work on vessels and on remote Island locations as required.  Ability to work alone or
• as part of a team and may be required to work on-call for emergency repairs.
