Description

The Pacific Community (SPC) is the principal scientific and technical organisation in the Pacific region, supporting development since 1947. We are an international development organisation owned and governed by our 26 country and territory members. In pursuit of sustainable development to benefit Pacific people, our organisation works across more than 20 sectors. We are known for our knowledge and innovation in such areas as fisheries science, public health surveillance, geoscience, and conservation of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture.

Its mission is to enhance the quality of education and training for Pacific learners, so they realize the benefits of lifelong learning. The role – Communications Intern will support EQAP’s communications planning, content development, workflow coordination, digital communications, and media asset management activities. Through participation in day-to-day communications operations, the intern will develop skills in strategic communications, digital content creation, communications management systems, photography, storytelling, and stakeholder-focused communications.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Assist in developing and preparing communications products including web stories, newsletters, social media content and other visibility materials.
  • Support communications planning and maintain communications trackers, schedules and workflow management tools.
  • Assist in coordinating communications requests and monitoring progress of communications activities.
  • Support photography, video capture, basic editing and management of digital communications assets.
  • Organise and maintain shared communications resources, photo libraries and content repositories.
  • Assist with event communications, visibility activities and communications coverage where required.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the communications team in delivering communications and outreach objectives.

Key selection criteria

Applicants must be either:

  • a university student enrolled at a tertiary institution in Fiji in a programme of study that has a specific specialisation in a relevant field of study where professional experience is required to obtain academic credits.
  • an individual who has graduated from a relevant undergraduate degree within the last 12 months and wishes to gain professional experience related to their field of study.

 

Salary, terms and conditions

Required starting date – As soon as possible.

Allowance – FJD $20 to $40 per day.

Duration – full-time internship available for 6 months. The duration of the internship will depend upon the tertiary institution’s course requirement for a work experience attachment and not exceeding 6 months.

Working hours – Monday to Friday 8:00 am–4:30 pm.
