About the Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Structural Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating structural construction activities on McConnell Dowell's major infrastructure project in Suva, Fiji.

This is a fixed-term contract through until August 2027, offering the opportunity to play a key leadership role in the successful delivery of a landmark project. You will be responsible for ensuring structural works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme, and to the highest quality standards while fostering a positive and high-performing team culture.

Working closely with engineers, subcontractors, and the wider project team, you will oversee day-to-day structural activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, company standards, and health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise structural construction crews and subcontractors to safely deliver project objectives.
• Coordinate daily construction activities in accordance with project schedules, drawings, and specifications.
• Ensure labour, plant, equipment, and materials are effectively utilised to achieve programme and productivity targets.
• Monitor and maintain the highest standards of quality across all structural works.
• Promote and champion McConnell Dowell's commitment to health, safety, environmental, and quality excellence.
• Conduct daily pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, and site inspections.
• Liaise with the Project Manager, Engineers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure effective project coordination.
• Identify and manage construction risks, issues, and potential variations.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction methodologies.
• Mentor and develop site teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Complete daily site reporting, quality documentation, and progress updates.

About You

• Relevant trade qualification or tertiary qualification in Construction, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Structural Supervisor, Foreperson, or similar leadership role within heavy civil or structural construction.
• Proven experience delivering major infrastructure or structural projects.
• Strong understanding of reinforced concrete, structural steel, formwork, and associated construction methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary construction teams.
• Sound knowledge of health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
• Strong planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
• A proactive, hands-on leader with a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality outcomes.
