Senior Network Engineer (Re-advertised)

Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

Purpose of the Role:  

 

The Senior Network Engineer in the Air Navigation Engineering Services department is responsible for the design, implementation, management, and optimization of critical networks supporting CNS (Communication, Navigation, Surveillance), ATM (Air Traffic Management), and airport systems. This role ensures the continuous, secure, and reliable operation of these networks, which are vital for the safe and efficient management of air traffic and airport systems.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Network Design & Implementation:

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust, secure, and scalabl network architectures for CNS, ATM, and airport systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and systems into the existing network infrastructure.
  • Develop and enforce network policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

2. Network Management & Monitoring:

  • Monitor network performance and reliability, implementing proactive measures to ensure uninterrupted services.
  • Perform regular network maintenance, including updates, patch management, and backups, to maintain optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuity of critical air navigation services.

3. Security & Compliance:

  • Implement and manage network security protocols, including firewalls, encryption, and intrusion detection systems, to protect against cyber threats.
  • Ensure all network operations comply with relevant industry standards and regulations, including those specific to aviation safety and security.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments, addressing any identified risks promptly.

 

 

4. Project Management:

  • Lead network-related projects, including upgrades, expansions, and the introduction of new technologies, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for the procurement and installation of network equipment and services.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including network diagrams, configuration guides, and project reports.

5. Training & Support:

  • Provide training and technical support to junior engineers and other stakeholders on network-related issues. 
  •  Develop and maintain network documentation and knowledge bases to support ongoing operations and future projects

 

 

 

 

Qualifications, Professional Knowledge and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7- 9 years of experience in network engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a senior or lead role.
  • Proven experience managing networks in mission-critical environments, preferably within the aviation or transportation industry.
  • Strong background in network security, including experience with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and encryption technologies.
  • Experience with project management, including planning, execution, and stakeholder management.
  • Advanced certifications such as CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), or equivalent is highly desirable.

  • Ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong sense of ethics and responsibility, particularly when dealing with sensitive and critical infrastructure
