Plumber

Purpose of the Role:   

The Plumber reports to the Foreman - Plumbing by effectively responding to all plumbing and maintenance works and carrying out tasks to ensure the smooth running of all FA’s water and sewerage systems. This role contributes to the safety and effectiveness of the company’s operations by ensuring that all FA properties are consistently maintained in good condition and align with the company’s corporate plan and specifications.

Key Accountabilities:

Maintenance, Projects and Support

• Conduct thorough daily inspections of sewer pumps and work-related areas to ensure all systems are functioning correctly.
• Address any issues promptly to ensure continuous water supply and operational efficiency.
• Installation of garden sprinklers, reserve water tanks, and water pumps.
•  Verify the operational status of hot water panels and heaters; perform necessary maintenance or repairs. Installation as required.
• Perform regular maintenance on sewer pump wells, manholes, and sewer lines to prevent blockages and failures.
• Installation of sewer pump wells, manholes, and sewer lines
• Installation of stormwater pipes and drainage systems as needed.
• Inspect and maintain roofs and gutters to prevent leaks and water damage.
• Installation of roof and gutters.
• Conduct monthly meter readings and maintain accurate records for water meters.
• Installation of water meters.
• Clean aircraft bailout strainers daily to ensure they are free of debris and functioning properly.
• Be prepared to address emergency situations related to plumbing, water supply, or other systems as they arise.
• Ensure all terminal building lavatories are fully operational and address any maintenance issues immediately.
• Regularly check and maintain garden sprinklers, reserve water tanks, and water pumps at Nadi International Airport and related outer station facilities (transmitters, power stations, etc.)
• Maintain the water supply and reticulation system throughout the airport complex for continuous operations.
• Oversee the maintenance of sewer pump wells, all sewer manholes, and sewer lines at Nadi/Nausori International Airport and related outer station facilities.
• Conduct regular maintenance of stormwater pipes and drainage systems.
• Setout v-drains, drain rockling and drain head-walls.
• Setout and install storm water chambers.
• Setout and install sewer chambers.
• Setout and install water valve chambers. 
• Be familiar with the safe operations and maintenance of any tools, machinery, or equipment used in carrying out responsibilities.
• Ensure that plumbing requirements for all operational areas are timely carried out.
• Ensure all fire hydrants are operational and compliant with safety standards.
• Advise the Foreman Plumber of any problems so that appropriate action can be taken to rectify them in a timely and effective manner.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor to support overall facility maintenance.

Compliance and Safety

• Use tools, machinery, and equipment safely and according to established guidelines
• Ensure all equipment is regularly maintained to prevent safety hazards.

• Ensure fire hydrants are checked regularly for compliance with safety standards.

Continuous Improvement and Development

• Regularly assess maintenance processes and identify areas for improvement.
• Suggest and implement new technologies or methods to enhance efficiency.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain detailed records of daily inspections and maintenance activities.
• Document monthly meter readings and any anomalies or issues encountered.
• Keep comprehensive records of all repairs and maintenance performed on systems. Record any incidents or emergencies, including the actions taken and resolutions.

Qualifications, Professional Knowledge and Experience:

• Hold a relevant Trade Certificate with 2–3 years of practical experience, or alternatively, have 5+ years of equivalent industry experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of plumbing products, including their applications.
• Strong understanding of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of building methods and materials, with the ability to properly use and maintain tools.
• Familiarity with building and safety regulations, including the ability to interpret drawings and architectural plans.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures on building sites.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.
• Experience working effectively within a team environment.
• Knowledge and understanding of relevant regulations, documentation, and compliance standards is desirable.
• Ability to safely operate power tools and machines.
• Basic computer skills are an added advantage.
• Have a Valid driving license
• Experience working effectively within a team environment
• In communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on teamwork and collaboration
