Business Development Officer - Retail & Commercial

Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

Purpose of the Role:  

The Business Development Officer – Retail & Commercial is required to drive growth and revenue generation by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities within the retail and commercial sector of the Airport.  This role is vital for enhancing the airport's commercial portfolio, optimizing the use of space, and increasing passenger spending through innovative retail offerings and strategic partnerships.

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Day to day management of airport tenants, concessionaires with reviews on Concession performance, operational efficiency, service, product mix, pricing, promotional activity, and ad hoc performance analysis.
  • Assist the Team Leader Commercial on research for new opportunities and provide strategic insight to grow commercial yield for non-aeronautical activities around the Airport.
  • Assist the Team Leader Commercial to approach the market and associated business development to secure new clients, including contract negotiation, project planning and risk management.
  • Assist the Team Leader Commercial to perform detailed financial analyses such Net Present Value (NPV), Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC), and other financial metrics, to assess the viability of new business opportunities and investments.
  • Assist the Team Leader Commercial to prepare work plans and schedules, budgets, reports, and forecasts in an accurate and timely manner to Team Leader Commercial.
  • Assist the Team Leader Commercial for development and management of Commercial Revenue and Expenditure budgets – assumptions and actuals.
  • Assist the Team Leader Commercial in formulating Board Papers on commercial matters.
  • Accurately complete all necessary documentation associated with leasing and managing properties, including inspection reports and types of leases
  • Maintain close contact and liaise regularly with clients and potential clients to ensure that the services meet client requirements.
  • Respond to general enquiries from current Commercial tenants and prospective ones.
  • Monitor Airport Taxi Operations, including administration of permits, taxi base fees payments and vehicle checks.
  • Monitor Luggage facility operations, including daily manning of left luggage facility by external security contractors and the daily/monthly monitoring of left luggage revenue.
  • Monitor the Swimming Pool facility operations and subordinate to ensure efficient and effective management of both staff and pool service contractor and also the daily/monthly monitoring of swimming pool revenue and membership. To carry out any other duties within scope of the position or related as assigned by the commercial management team from time to time.

 

Qualifications, Professional Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business studies, Commercial, Finance or relevant related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of business development experience
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of CA firm experience is required
  • Proven track record in property management and business commercial projects with strong commercial acumen.
  • Ability to perform independent financial analysis to assess viability or on-going and new business investments
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyse data and generate reports.

  • Have flexibility and a talent for negotiation.
  • Have excellent and tactful communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with FA’s Commercial clients as well as internal and external stakeholders.
  • Have a wide knowledge base and understanding of the entire Commercial Department’s functions and the functions of other Departments within FA; most importantly in linking these functions and operations to ensure the successful delivery of FA’s Commercial objectives.
  • Sound knowledge of the aviation industry
  • Good organizational skills and a knack for problem solving.
  • Ability to multitask, accept responsibility and work under tight schedules. Ability to be a “think out of the box” personnel
