Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

Purpose of the Role:  

The Senior Auditor is responsible to supervise auditors and jointly execute internal audit activity for all departments of the company; examine the company’s compliance with policies, procedures, rules and regulations set by the regulatory and government bodies; finalize audit findings, risks and recommendations and to be submitted to Manager Internal Audit

Key Accountabilities:

1. Audit Plan & Scoping:

  • Assist Manager Internal Audit in preparation of risk-based annual audit plans.
  • Assist in preparation of audit programs for the proposed auditable areas.
  • Prepare audit scope and plans for examination.
  • Oversee and ensuring execution of the plan in accordance with the set timelines.

2. Audit Field Work  

  • Carry out rigorous audit testing as per audit plan and audit scope.
  • Communicating and discussions with relevant personnel during verification process.
  • Obtain, analyse and evaluate documentation, previous reports, data and flowcharts.
  • Carry out audits on external stakeholders (Concessionaires & airlines) accounts for revenue collected in form of concession income and airport development and security levy. 

3. Finding & Reporting:

  • Compile and submit the draft audit report to the Senior Auditor for review.
  • Agree on issues, impacts, causes and recommendations with management throughout the course of audit assignment.
  • Define and re-engineer processes to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Maintain audit documentation and work papers.
  • Examine audit reports and discuss findings with Manager Internal Audit. 

4. Follow Up Audits:

  • Enter findings in the audit register database, maintained.
  • Perform follow up audits on the implementation of the action plans and targeted dates provided.
  • Submit a follow – up audit report as and when required to Manager Internal Audit. 

5. Leadership:

  • Motivate, Supervise and train subordinates
  • Act as the focal point of all audits in absence of the Manager Internal Audit.
  • Assist the Manager Internal Audit, in keeping the Board, CEO & Management regularly informed about overall progress.

6. Spot Checks, Special Audits & Ad hoc Task:

  • Conduct surprise audit checks on risk areas such as cash controls, stores, fleet etc.
  • Assist Manager Internal Audit in carrying out special audits / investigations as and when required.
  • Carry out any other duties within the scope of the Senior Auditor position assigned by the Manager Internal Audit.
  • Take a role in any ad hoc tasks or projects required to meet departmental objectives.

 

Qualifications, Professional Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Arts / Commerce Degree - Majoring in Accounting and Financial Management.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant professional experience in internal audit or related field.
  • Membership with the Fiji Institute of Internal Auditors (FIIA) or equivalent professional body.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk-based audit planning, audit charters, and audit scoping.

  • Ability to work independently and in team; prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Ability to work without fear or favour.
  • Ability to track for information from sources relating to a particular activity.
  • Strong report writing skills. Ability to write clear, concise, robust and balanced audit reports.
  • Ability to maintain the utmost level of integrity, independence, and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Willing to travel to other stations and outer stations for audit.
