Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

The University of Fiji seeks a creative and dynamic person for the position of Graphic Designer. The position is based at Saweni Campus but the successful candidate may be required to work from other University sites and campuses when required.

The successful candidate will be responsible to the Vice Chancellor through the Public Relations Coordinator.

Responsibilities:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a relevant field from a recognized and reputable institution with at least 3 years of relevant experience working in the marketing industry;
  • Design and produce creative images for marketing and communication campaigns including:
    • Social media graphics, digital ads, email banners
    • Brochures, flyers, posters, event programs, and signage
    • University newsletters, magazines, and annual reports
  • Plan and conduct photography sessions to develop and support:
    • Social media graphics, digital ads, email banners
    • Brochures, flyers, posters, and signage
    • Advertising campaigns
  • Develop visual images for academic programs, conferences, and special university initiatives.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to the university's branding and visual identity guidelines.
  • Assist in generating the layout of publications and reports.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (e.g. faculties, student association, administration) to design materials tailored to specific audiences.
  • Maintain a digital asset library of design templates, logos, icons, and project archives.
  • Stay current with design trends.
  • Contribute creative input to PR, advertising, and student engagement campaigns.
  • Provide support for university social media platforms by creating content-ready visuals. Occasionally scheduling or posting content and collaborating with the marketing officer on campaign planning.
  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing Officer and Public Relations team in planning and executing integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Coordinate with local media outlets (e.g. newspapers) to produce advertisement ready designs that meet technical specifications, layout standards, and deadlines for external ad placements.
  • Develop digital content for web and social media such as infographics, animations, and video snippets.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Vice Chancellor.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro).
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of digital and social media marketing best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • A collaborative attitude with the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Innovative and creative approach to recreate strategies in different forms;
  • A team player with a confident personal style and creative imagination;
  • Possess a deep appreciation of the multiplex diversity of the University of Fiji’s staff and students including in gender, culture, and expression.

Salary Band: $32,682.65 - $40,494.60

The University offers a three-year full-time contract with renewals subject to performance reviews.
