The Role
The Application Developer will provide technical expertise on application development projects of all sizes for Pacific Australia Skills, utilizing formal software development and project management methodologies.
Roles and Responsibilities
Maintain the Pacific Australia Skills corporate, operational and educational software systems
Provide technical guidance to strategic communications Team Leader to maintain the Pacific Australia Skills website including coordination of layout updates requested by content owners and regular spot of checks of site functionality
Assist the Snr Applications Developer in diagnosing and resolving issues with Pacific Australia Skills Management Information System
Undertake regular research initiatives (testing and evaluating) to support recommendations for new systems for Pacific Australia Skills as directed by the ICT Manager.
Develop and maintain the Application Architecture of Pacific Australia Skills with relevant information.
Evaluate existing applications to reprogram, update and add new features and complete tasks allocated via the ICT Service Desk.
Develop and administer rollout plans for new or upgraded software for staff and students in use at Pacific Australia Skills including quick guides/support material to ensure successful adoption.
Ensure effective integration of Pacific Australia Skills software platforms.
Maintain a current knowledge and awareness of developments in web design and programming languages, server-based database development and associated technologies and software applications.
Selection Criteria
Essential Experience and Knowledge
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in developing applications in an enterprise environment
Enterprise level experience working with Microsoft O365 Technologies (Power Platforms)
Experience with automation; Development and integration of operational workflows.
Experience working with SQL server.
Knowledge and experience of application deployment and Source Code Management.
Experience developing technical documentation for software projects.
Well-developed analytical and conceptual skills including the ability to evaluate, plan and manage projects.
Desirable
A Degree qualification in a related field and minimum 2-year experience in software development.
Experience in coding languages and different platform (C#, ASP.Net).
Demonstrated experience in website administration using CMS.
Knowledgeable in SQL queries.
High-level written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to deliver in-house training to staff.
Proven ability to develop system documentation, policies and procedures.
Understanding of and commitment to Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), Child Protection, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH), prevention of human trafficking, environmental protection, anti-corruption and other DFAT safeguarding policies.
