Location: Suva, Fiji

Full-time: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Fixed term for 3 years

Salary: Up to FJD 60,000 per annum depending on skills/experience
Annual Leave: 25 days pro rata in year 1, increasing by 1 day p/a to 28 days

We are looking for a Technical Advisor to provide scientific and technical leadership for the SAMBIO Project in Fiji. 

In this role, you will be ensuring the application of best-practice science, supporting regional and global conservation initiatives to deliver effective, evidence-based conservation outcomes.

How you will do this:

  • Providing technical leadership in project planning, activity design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

  • Leading the Species Programme in Fiji and providing technical support.

  • Coordinating and leading the KBA programme in Fiji and supporting Pacific partners.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation to regional and global conservation strategies.

  • Representing BirdLife International in technical and scientific forums.

  • Providing technical advice, training and guidance on the application of BirdLife conservation strategies.

What we are looking for:

To be successful in this role you’ll need to have a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field and have proven experience in ornithology, applied ecology, environment or development. You’ll also need advanced technical experience in species conservation, biodiversity assessment and applied ecological research. Experience in ecosystem management, habitat and site conservation planning, invasive species management are an advantage. 

In addition, we are seeking experience of integrating field data, spatial analysis and conservation science into practical management strategies.
