The position oversees forest regulatory operations within a beat area to ensure the sustainable management of forest resources through strict implementation of the Fiji Forest Harvesting Code of Practice and the Forest Decree 1992.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conducting final field verification and providing recommendations on approval of harvesting plans to the Assistant Divisional Forestry Officer
2. Conducting quarterly monitoring to ensure compliance to licensing conditions and the Fiji Forest Harvesting Code of Practice
3. Provide forest protection by issuing improvement notices and fines for any breach of forest activities
4. Carrying out monthly checks of Beat Account Books to ensure fees and royalty payments are up to date
5. Liaise with resource owners and stakeholders to provide advice, awareness and resolve complaints
6. Coordinate and implement extension activities within the Beat area
