The Australian Government’s Fiji Program Support Facility announces the following opportunity: Program Officer - Emergency Preparedness and Response Based in Suva, Fiji (some travel may be required) Full time, 12 months with an option to extend The Program The Australian Government has established the Fiji Program Support Facility (the Facility) to implement its Education, Health and Awards programs in Fiji and its Education and Awards Programs in Tuvalu. The Facility will also support the delivery of Australia’s emergency preparedness and response efforts and governance support in Fiji. As with all Australian Government aid, cross cutting priorities of civil society engagement, gender equality, disability inclusion, child protection and climate change will be integrated across all programs. The Position The Program Officer (PO) Emergency Preparedness and Response will work closely with the Civil Society Engagement Manager to plan, coordinate, administer, monitor and evaluate emergency preparedness and response activities for Civil Society Organisation (CSO) and Government of Fiji (GoF) sector partner grantees. The position will play a key role in developing relationships with sector stakeholders, and will be experienced in capacity building, including in the key areas of Child Protection and GESI in emergencies, and in building localised responses to emergencies. Key responsibilities include: Work with the Civil Society Engagement Manager in the implementation of DFAT’s Australia Fiji Civil Society Engagement Strategy as it relates to emergency preparedness and response Work with the Civil Society Engagement Manager to administer the Preparedness and Response Fund (PRF) including grant management, coordination and support to the CSO Responders Pool, sector partners and other stakeholders’ emergency preparedness and response activities Collaborate with Sector partners, and the CSO Responders Pool and other stakeholders for integration of emergency preparedness and response activities Conduct due diligence checks, monitoring and contribute to organisational capacity assessments of civil society organisations (CSOs) in coordination with Field Teams and Program Officers Provide analysis and advice to the Senior Management Team concerning any changes in the local operating environments and impact on the CSOs, GoF partners, other stakeholders and their projects. The Person The ideal candidate for this position must have a relevant degree and will demonstrate considerable experience implementing, managing and coordinating emergency preparedness and response or humanitarian assistance activities. Demonstrated experience in coordination with government and CSOs in preparedness and response. We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate critical thinking skills, are happy to work across a range of tasks and who enjoy working in a diverse team environment.
