The Opportunity 

The Executive Officer position which reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor & President, ensures that the Vice-Chancellor & President's office is provided with executive support on a timely manner. This position will assist in the implementation of the directives of the Vice-Chancellor & President in ensuring that the decisions made by FIC, Senate, UGC, Regional Ministers of Finance and the Council are implemented in a timely and efficient manner. Executive Officer will keep the Vice-Chancellor & President informed through background research, drafting of correspondence, follow ups and provision of briefings and papers. The appointee will also be responsible to manage staff, having understanding of University functions and business areas and understanding of budgets and office administration.  
 
To be considered for this position, applicants must have: 

- A relevant tertiary degree and 8 years' experience working in the Pacific region, with good knowledge of the member Governments and University's mandate; 
- Proven record of research and data analysis skills for preparation of briefings, presentations and reports; 
- Demonstrated personal integrity and professional commitment as well as the personal presence, tact and discretion to gain the respect and trust of key stakeholders and to deal with sensitive and confidential matters; 
- Good knowledge of issues and problems facing the region; 
- Management experience including staff management; 
- Project management experience; 
- Ability to work independently; 
- Can lead events management; 
- Good knowledge and understanding of the USP's relationship with other agencies such as CROP and other inter-regional agencies.  
Preference will be given to applicants with: 

- A Postgraduate degree; 
- Previous experience as an Executive Officer role in an complex and comparable institution; 
- Ability to work at Senior level; 
- Managerial experience including staff management experience; 
- Ability to manage high volume of work.  
 
 
Level 3 FJ $66,521 to FJ $81,491 per annum  
3 year renewable
