The position is responsible to provide quality and timely response on issues pertaining to employment complaints, Labour Inspections and audits together with any other Employment matters under the Employment Relations Act 2007 in an accurate manner to create a well-informed labour market.
The position will achieve its purpose through the following:
1. Conduct inspections and enforcement of various Wages Regulations governing the terms and conditions of employment of workers in the labour market.
2. Enforcement of labour legislations in factories, shops, commercial and industrial establishments
3. Investigate complaints and recover workers’ overdue entitlements.
4. Provide advice and information to employers and Workers about their rights and
obligations under Employment Relations Act 2007 & Wages Regulation Orders and create awareness on other labour laws of Fiji.
5. Drafting and filing of charges in the Employment Relations Tribunal for breaches by employers.
6. Assist Labour Officer to attend to Tikina Council Meeting, Provincial Council meeting and Inter Agency Committee Meetings.
7. Compiling periodic reports (weekly/monthly/bi-annual and annual) and other relevant reports on activities undertaken by the Service.
