What is the job?

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to join our amazing team at Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay Resort & Spa.

In the 24/7 hospitality world, the Engineering Manager leads an experienced team to ensure seamless delivery of critical facility services such as running water and reliable power. Direct the development and implementation of standards, procedures, facilities plans and associated budgets and schedules. Direct maintenance of critical building systems, emergency preparedness procedures in support of the Resort’s goals and objectives. Accomplish goals and objectives through subordinates and in collaboration with the management team.

People

  • Deliver Crowne Plaza Brand Promise and Service Signatures to daily work.
  • Observing hotel rules and regulations. T
  • Taking good care of all tools /materials/ machines using for work.
  • Assisting his fellow workers if necessary and possible.
  • Keeping secret all information related to the company.
  • Taking care all kind of correspondences in the department (writing letters, faxes, memo, e-mail...).
  • Making weekly, monthly reports (energy consumption reports and other calculation reports). 
  • Placing roster / scheduling time attendants and making attendant reports for all staff for salary calculation purpose.
  • Monitoring all kind of leaves for all engineering staff (annual leaves, sick leave…etc…).
  • Keeping stock of stationery needed for the department use.
  • Contacting hotel guests, outside contractors, other guests of Chief Engineer (over phone calls or in person) for work order requests resolving and materials / services that suppliers / outside contractors supplied to the department.
  • Daily attending all kind of administration works (dealing with correspondences, monthly and weekly reports, attendant reports, leaves monitoring and phone calls…) in the department office.
  • Be responsible in keeping our property safe and secure, to participate in any hotel activity related to Fire Life safety.
  • Always present genuine smiling face, friendly and offering assistance to guests.
  • Look smart – wear your uniform with pride.
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties - unexpected moments which may be assigned by management when we have to pull together to get a task done.

  • Enginering/Finance
  • Completes work orders pertaining to (MEP) Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Civil works.
  • Manage and perform preventative maintenance of all MEP system including kitchen and guestrooms
  • Manage, update, and clear maintenance request in HUB system on daily basis 
  • Monitors reliability and efficiency of MEP equipment such as swimming pools, air conditioning, boilers, generators, service/guest elevators, water filtration system and low voltage equipment/system such as MATV, security/fire alarm system, CCTV and emergency lighting system. 
  • Refurbish furniture and fixtures within guest rooms such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows and counters.
  • Paints and finishes furniture and fixtures in guest rooms, as needed.
  • Maintains landscape front entrance area, parking lot and/or garage, and street entrance in a clean and presentable manner.
  • Follow procedures and ensure security of inventory such as tools, supplies, equipment, etc., replenishes supplies and inventory in a timely and efficient manner. 
  • Monitor engineering expenditures including utilities making sure budget are met on monthly basis
  • Participate CAPEX preparation program. 
  • Participate Energy Conservation (IHG Green Engage) and Waste Reduction Program 
  • Perform regular test of Stand by Generator as per IHG standard. 
  • Perform regular water (e.g., swimming pool, potable system) test as per local authority compliance and IHG standard.
  • Perform tool box/morning briefing daily and monthly meeting with engineering associates.
  • Assign/manage/supervise team’s assignment/task 
  • Update Equipment Maintenance records (ADHOC and contract). 
  • Attend daily operation briefing and required onsite management meeting. 
  • Manage external maintenance contractor and perform induction process.
  • Respond on fire alarms and emergency situation. 
  • Perform regular inspection of mechanical and electrical plant as well as Public Spaces.
  • Respond and troubleshoot system errors and fault on MEP system and Fire Alarm System.
  • Raise purchase request and sign service reports and invoices. 
  • Prepare and submit weekly report

  • Responds promptly and efficiently to guests’ requests.
  • Responds to guest complaints and ensures corrective action is taken promptly to achieve complete guest satisfaction.
  • Respond in a courteous and prompt manner to all guest questions and/or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.

  • Ensures a safe and secure environment. Mitigate risk exposure to guests, colleagues, assets, etc. by promptly reporting and addressing any unsafe conditions or repairs needed.
  • Be familiar with emergency response plans and be able to execute accordingly.
  • Assist with other functions of the maintenance department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support Green Engage initiatives in the property.
What we need from you:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, in either Mechanical or Electrical disciplines, and more than five years’ experience in a similar hotel engineering role, preferred. 
  • Professional certification and license as required.
  • Specialized expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields. Level 3 EPA Certification, HVAC and refrigeration certificate, licensed plumber and/or journeyman status for electrician and carpenter may be required.
  • Flexibility – Work hours may alter depending on Resort Requirements. 
  • Experience - ideally, you’ll have spent the last 3 years working in a high paced role dealing with refrigeration and HVAC experience and general engineering/maintenance duties.
