Variety Buyer
Responsibilities:
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for a diverse range of non-food products.
- Select products that align with customer preferences, market trends, and store strategy.
- Conduct market research to stay informed about new products and emerging trends.
- Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to product quality or delivery.
- Negotiate terms, prices, and contracts with suppliers.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure product availability and favorable terms.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to plan and execute product promotions and displays.
- Manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing overstock and stockouts.
- Analyze cost structures and negotiate to achieve the best possible pricing and terms.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and standards related to non-food products.
- Analyze purchasing data, sales trends, and market conditions to make informed buying decisions.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and relevant regulations. Monitor and manage the budget for non-food products.
- Ensure that all products meet quality and safety standards.
- Address and resolve any quality issues with suppliers promptly.
- Prepare and present reports on inventory levels, supplier performance, and product performance.
- Ensure optimal product placement and visibility in-store.
- Analyze sales data and forecast demand to plan inventory replenishment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A relevant advanced degree or certification is a plus.
- 3-5 years of experience in buying, merchandising, or procurement, ideally in a grocery or retail environment.
- Strong ability to negotiate terms, prices, and contracts with suppliers.
- Proficiency in analyzing data, forecasting demand, and making informed decisions based on market trends.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with suppliers and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple product lines and tasks efficiently.
- Precision in handling orders, maintaining inventory records, and ensuring product quality.
- Capability to address and resolve issues related to supply chain disruptions or product quality.
- Proficiency in procurement software, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
