We are a New Zealand based wholesaler/distributor specializing in providing medical device/equipment, medical consumables and pharmaceuticals to the Pacific Islands.  Our expertise ensures the product quality, efficiency and reliability are always the focus.

 

 Position Purpose

Our company is looking to establish a Biomedical equipment commissioning, maintenance, calibration service in Fiji Islands (Flexible location of Either Suva or Nadi) and therefore looking for an appropriately qualified Biomedical Technician or Engineer who can help us setup the organization. You will oversee setting up the process and procedures in addition to being responsible for executing routine and sophisticated repairs, calibrating and maintaining all types of biomedical equipment technologies, devices, instruments and systems, as well as inspecting, installing, and providing preventative maintenance of general biomedical equipment.

 

Key Responsibilities

The position will achieve its purpose through the following key responsibilities:

1.      Write and approve Standard Operating Procedures and Occupational Health and Safety guidelines

2.      In accordance with Australian and New Zealand Standards, carry out a range of routine maintenance tasks related to a variety of anesthetic, dental, surgical, laboratory, ophthalmic, medical, and urology equipment.

3.      Assemble, install, and fix medical equipment as well as mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and basic electronic devices in accordance with the guidelines in the supplier/vendor manuals or by using schematic diagrams and visual aids.

4.      Identify and fix issues with systems and equipment by changing, fixing, or replacing them to guarantee that internal circuitry and medical equipment satisfy criteria.

5.      Create new test setups or improve existing ones to perform functional tests on medical electronic test apparatus.

6.      Keep records of all new equipment, inspections, repairs, and malfunctions.

7.      Help with agreements with clients in Fiji

8.      Help with billing clients

9.      Give updates and reports every week.

 

Person Specification

  • Relevant academic qualification in Electronics or Biomedical Engineering
  • Experience in working in a similar environment (preferable)
  • Experience in setup of business or writing of procedures
  • Knowledge and experience in the repair/maintenance of electronic/ electromechanical devices.
  • Understanding of the OHS regulations and safety procedures.
  • Experience in and understanding instruction of all aspects of all Biomedical Engineering Services both written and oral.
  • Ability to prepare reports, to organize and prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently at all levels of the organization
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Excel
  • Pro-active problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer service & communication skills
  • Current clean drivers licence
