The Opportunity
The Shop Assistant is responsible for the effective and efficient operations of the USP Book Centre retail spaces, delivering exceptional and informed customer service, along with administrative and support services and ensuring the smooth functioning of the USP Book Centre.
The appointee will be required to work closely with Retail Sales Executive in ensuring that Uni-Store customers are well attended to and that the operations are managed effectively and efficiently.
The Shop Assistant will report to the Retail Sales Executive and is expected to interact with customers and other key stakeholders for the purpose of providing efficient service to the university community and external customers. All positions within the USP Book Centre are aligned to meet the financial and operational needs of the University as set out in the annual budget and the policies and processes.
The incumbent is expected to maintain a high level of understanding of retail operations, be able to contribute in a team environment and is customer focused. All USP Commercial staff are expected to provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement and demonstrate continuous improvement in all areas of work and maintains service level with our customers and vendors.
The Shop Assistant will develop and maintain excellent lines of communication and rapport with all customers and stakeholders. The appointee will be required to work on a shift basis and will be based in any of the USP Book Centre departments This position involves standing for extended periods, lifting, packing and unpacking of cartoons and attending to delegated duties in weekends or evenings to support shop opening hours and marketing events.

An ideal candidate must have experience in POS, cash handling and cashiering procedures, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, dependable and well organized.

Salary Range
Grade 2: FJ$12,334.99 to FJ$20,672.61 per annum.
