Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

First Landing Beach Resort & Villas, a boutique resort at Vuda Point comprising 60 keys and busy restaurant is looking for an experienced, mature, reliable and friendly person to fill the position of Duty Manager.


  • A Tertiary qualification in Tourism Management or equivalent would be an advantage
  • Minimum 3 years Experience in a similar role.


  • This position is primarily an afternoon/evening shift Duty Manager position but there may be requirements to work the day shift as required by the Resort Manager.
  • Responsible and mature person able to work with very little supervision and demonstrates leadership qualities.
  • Ability to communicate well and work in a busy team environment. Close working relationship with other senior staff including restaurant manager and supervisors, head barman, resort band,
  • Executive chef on duty, housekeeping supervisor and staff, front office staff and security. Also, work with grounds and maintenance staff as required. Overseas entertainment groups and assist as required with special functions with the Weddings and Functions coordinator and
    functions staff.
  • Strong guest relations focus and ability to attend to guest issues as required with the objective to ensure guests enjoy their stay. When possible, chat with guests and receive feedback about their stay.
  • Deal with any emergency issues during the shift that may arise.
  • Ensure the smooth flow of the resort operations and coordination between departments to increase levels of positive guest feedback while on duty.
  • Assist department heads to ensure staff follow correct methods of standards and procedures in the execution of their duties
  • Checks on rooms allocated for guest check-in during the shift are ready or take appropriate action as required.
  • Makes inspection rounds at the resort during the shift to ensure the general upkeep and cleanliness of the resort.
  • Responsible for issuing stores from the main storerooms if required
  • Ensure close-down procedures are done properly at the end of the evening shift and that the handover report is completed noting any action matters for the night shift and also the morning shift.
  • Ensures good coordination with the contract transport provider and resort activities.


  • Knowledge and Experience with Reservations and Front Office responsibilities, able to undertake check-in or check procedures if required or securing bookings if required.
  • Able to operate ‘Room Master, Point of Sale and Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to communicate well and work in a busy team environment.
  • Career professional with good customer service, and written and oral communication skills.
  • Energetic & enthusiastic with strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Be an effective communicator and be able to work under minimum supervision
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Having a clean Fiji driving license in Groups 2 and 4 would be an advantage
  • Must have a clean police record
