USAID will re-establish a regional mission for the Pacific in Suva, Fiji to serve as a hub for the Pacific for the U.S. government by September 2023. Fiji is a regional transportation hub that will enable support to USAID’s regional programmatic approach and the newly approved five-year USAID Strategic Framework for the Pacific Islands to advance a more democratic, prosperous, and resilient Pacific Island region.
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Officer (EXO), the Human Resources (HR) Specialist provides full range of HR services and support to the USAID/Pacific Islands in Suva, Fiji and to the three USAID offices in the Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of Marshall Islands and Republic of Palau. The Specialist performs a variety of HR functions: position management, position classification, recruitment and hiring of staff, performance management, awards, training, personnel actions for U.S. Direct Hire employees, compensation and benefits administration, contract, and personnel actions for Personal Services Contractors (cooperating country nationals, U.S, and third country nationals), HR reports and records management.
Hosting a vast proportion of the world’s shipping and global fisheries, Pacific waters supply food and income to millions of people in the Pacific Islands and beyond. Yet, the region’s stability and vitality are threatened by debilitating natural disasters and development challenges. The Pacific Islands are central to American efforts to promote a free and open Indo-Pacific region that bolsters the global economy.
A Pacific country, the United States — through USAID — partners with 12 Pacific Island nations to bolster their ability to lead their countries to stable, prosperous futures. We focus on strengthening disaster preparedness and responding to climate change, health, and democratic governance.
