Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

The position will be based at the Energy Fiji Limited’s Head Office Suva and will report to the General Manager Special Projects.    

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the commercial (contract administration) aspect of both Design & Construct contracts and Design, Supply and Install contracts, including liaising with Procurement teams, Contractors, Project Managers & Engineers, subject matter experts within business including legal counsel, and all members of the Projects team;
  • Assist in Preparation/Compilation of Tender Specifications, administer tendering process, including evaluation of tender bids and contract preparation;
  • Establish and manage Contract Administration plans for major contracts, including contract start up and close out activities, performance security, insurance, satisfaction of conditions precedent and appointment of contract representatives;
  • Coordinate with the internal stakeholders, Project Consultants and Turn-key Contractors for execution of projects;
  • Management of contract administration, head contract and sub-contracts (progress claims, & adhere to contract conditions) for implementation;
  • Maintain project registers including register of variations and claims, delays, instructions and use these information to build formal claims;
  • Resolve critical issues through the project life cycle;
  • Provide practical advise on how to manage contracts, including coaching and mentoring of Project Managers & Engineers in areas of contract administration, including governance and compliance with contract terms;
  • Foster and contribute to technical innovation including systems and processes in a continuous improvement culture;
  • Ensure at all times that HSE considerations in all facets of activities are of top priority;
  • Ensure that project targets, timelines and deliverables are within budget allocations;
  • Submit monthly project progress reports for all assigned projects;
  • Deliver a high level of customer service whilst building and maintaining strong working relationships between internal and external stakeholders;
  • Assist the various departments within Special Projects SBA in carrying out its role diligently and efficiently;
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the General Manager Special

Key Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience working in an environment of procurement and commercial contracting
  • Demonstrated ability to apply sound project management methodologies to manage own work and schedule/projects;
  • Applying theoretical and practical knowledge to solve commonly encountered problems;
  • Good lateral strategic thinker;
  • Strong negotiation, communication and influencing skills;
  • Degree/post-graduate qualification in Civil or Electrical Engineering or Construction or Business Management;
  • Sound ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of products;
  • Broad knowledge of electricity generation, transmission and distribution industry plant and equipment;
  • Possess a valid Driver’s license;
  • Working knowledge of FIDIC suite of contracts;
  • Be a member (or be eligible to become a member) of either a Professional engineering body or Project Management
