Douglas Pharmaceuticals Fiji Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of New Zealand's largest privately owned pharmaceutical company, with a modern pharmaceutical manufacturing and research facility in Nadi, Fiji.

We are seeking applications from interested individuals for the position of Health and Safety Coordinator reporting to the Manager Human Resources. 

The position involves the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct monthly safety trainings and annual safety drills as per OHSE Schedules planned by
  • Conduct safety induction course for new employees and visitors.
  • Ensure all safety equipment, machines and tools are checked, serviced and tested as per regulatory requirements and in-house maintenance program.
  • Review periodically depot OHSE manual as per stipulated.
  • Review and make recommendation on investigation and risk assessment outcome of safety related incidents, preventive actions and safe work practices, to implement changes accordingly upon Manager's approval.
  • Report to local authorities as per regulatory requirement on safety related incidents upon Manager's approval and keeping management informed.
  • Ensure weekly safety walk is conducted as per compliance and rectifications are completed
  • Conduct periodic review of incident trends and effectiveness of safety performance and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Keep abreast with safety incidents and share with staffs and management and recommend preventive actions. Management and development of the Health and Safety Program in accordance with the Health and Safety Work Act 1996.
  • Constant review of Health and Safety Legislations.
  • Investigation of workplace hazards and assessment.
  • Prepare Health and Safety Audit Schedule and organize meetings.
  • Monitor, review & amend Health & Safety Systems

Requirement:

  • Tertiary Qualification
  • Certificate in OHS Module | & Il is mandatory
  • First Aid Certificate is desirable but not essential.
  • Should be well versed with latest Health and Safety Acts and Regulations.
  • Proven ability to work without direct supervision and to multi-task when required.
  • Strong leadership skills in implementing and maintaining procedures.
