Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

FWCC SEEKS TO RECRUIT SUITABLY QUALIFIED PERSONS FOR THE POSITIONS OF COUNSELLORS.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Provide confidential, non-judgemental crisis counselling and advocacy support (such as - police, court, medical and other  services) to survivors of violence who access the services of FWCC and its branches - or the premises, over the telephone and away from FCC as required
  • Maintain clear and accurate survivor records.
  • Work with the Project Officers in identifying target population groups for community education.
  • Participate in community education programs if required.
  • Work a flexible roster including occasional evening and weekend work.
  • May be required to travel for short periods locally and abroad.
  • Participate in all training deemed necessary by the Centre and its branches.
  • Represent the Centre and its branches or relevant committees ard organisations of which the Centre is a member,
  • Participate in Centre ard branch activities (such as campaigns)

Selection Criteria

  • At least 3 years’ experience in community work and/or working in the area of violence against women. Some counselling experience would be an asset.
  • Must have tertiary level education.
  • I-Taukei speaking counsellors - Fluency in written and spoken English and fluency in spoken i-Taukei; some knowledge of Hindi language would be an advantage.
  • Hindi speaking counsellors - Fluency in written and spoken English and fluency in spoken Hindi: some knowledge of i-Taukei language would be ar advantage. Ability to read and write in Hindi would be an asset.
  • Due to the nature of the position, mature applicants are preferred.

Essential

  • Willingness to undertake training. Availability for evening and weekend work ard some travel.
  • Must have initiative and be able to work with minimum supervision.
