The Opportunity

This position is primarily responsible for processing and distributing payments to University staff and students (other than salary payments). as well as disbursing payments to the University’s vendor. The Cashier Payments reports directly to the Accountant who is the Line Manager responsible for the Accounts Payable Unit.

He/she assists the Accountant to ensure that complete documentation and appropriate approvals are submitted before payments are processed with particular attention to the financial delegations as well as the Finance policies arid procedures. He/she assists the Accountant by providing advice where possible to faculties, departments arid sections on payment policies and procedures. 

The Person We Seek

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

  • Completion of Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline or completion of Diploma in Accounting or Business with at least two years’ working experience, or Certificate in Finance and related field with extensive (at least 10 years) working experience in a financial environment of a large and complex organisation, or equivalent combination relevant: experience and/or education training
  • Experience in facilitating customer services;
  • Experience in carrying out multiple activities within tight deadlines,
  • Demonstrate competence and responsibility in the handling of cash cheques:
  • Good interpersonal skills,
  • Exceptional customer oriented,
  • Computer literate and
  • Have the ability to develop
  • Knowledge of business ethics, personal leadership arid have the ability to work well under pressure.


The position is available for a term of 3 years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.

Salary Range:

Grade 4 F$22,426 to F$28,318 per annum
