The Opportunity

The appointee will be a technical specialist with the University Network Structure, provide expertise and
be accountable for network technology by way of design, development and delivery associated with the
current corporate technology infrastructure within a multi-campus teaching and learning environment.
The appointee will also provide all levels of support to resolve complex and critical problems. The appointee
will report to the Systems and Network Infrastructure Manager. Currently, this group manages its own private 1
infrastructure with over 200 servers, over 500 networking devices and other services essential to a wide population of over 30.000 stakeholders. 


The Person We Seek 
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

  • A Postgraduate qualification or progress towards Postgraduate qualification in Computing or Information Science or related Engineering field and extensive experience in network administration or network support of corporate/campus audio, data and video networks; valid CCNA Certification;
  • Knowledge of communication protocol suites (especially TCP/IP) in router-based networks:
  • Knowledge of mainstream network technologies including Ethernet, Wireless, SAN, switches, routers and infrastructure cabling as well as network routing protocols ie. OSPF, BGP, and RIP;
  • Working knowledge of network security applications and protocols i.e. Firewalls. IPS, IDS, VPNs; good 
    at problem determination, isolation and correction, network planning and monitoring: and well-developed 
    investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to fault finding and cause diagnosis. 

Remuneration 
The position is available for a term of 3 years and may be renewed by mutual agreement. 

Salary Range: 
Level 2 FJ $50,184 to FJ $61,289 per annum '
